Planning
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!Map out Your Road to Success...The more you plan and work your plan, the more successful you’ll be.Great organisations build a culture of planning and continuously improving their organisation. This allows them to respond quickly to changing external and internal environments and build internal practices that produce better bottom lines, products, services and systems. It is strange to think that people spend more time planning their next holiday than the future of the organisation they work in. Is it little wonder we see so many struggling and failing organisations do not become one of the statistics |

Strategic PlanningDeveloping a Clear Direction and Strategic Plan for your Organisation Outcomes:
|
|
Don’t take only our word for it, here’s why Clubs Queensland strongly recommends all Associations have a current Strategic Plan...
“If an Association is to grow and prosper, it must have defined ideas about what it wants to be and where it wants to go… . Strategic planning can help an Association decide where it wants to be, when it wants to be there and what path it should take to get there. This process is not simply about developing a plan, but about getting results and organising an Association's business so it can best satisfy its members”.
Developing a Clear Direction and Strategic Plan for your Organisation. It can be done over 1 or 2 days as you require.
Step 1:
- Have everyone on your side by sharing your clear and concise vision for the Organisation
- Identify business, employment and profit-making opportunities
- Stop being side tracked by setting your rules for determining which opportunities you proceed with
- Ensure things get done by prioritising and determining timelines for opportunities identified
- Create an action list, with people responsible, to move forward – for higher priority opportunities
- Don’t rely on the Government by maximising current funding to the organisations, including mining royalties, grants, current businesses, investments…
Step 2:
- GTI and key person work together to develop a step-by-step plan of action.
- GTI to complete the written plan, with dates, tasks and people responsible.
Step 3:
- Get everyone on side through presenting the draft plan to members
- Identify modifications required to the draft plan to gain full ownership by members
- Adoption of the draft plan by members
- Tasks and responsibilities delegated - so that everyone adopts and takes responsibility for the plan
Step 4:
- Strategic Plan modified – a full working action plan to achieve the vision
- GTI produces final copy
- Final copy distributed
‘We were absolutely delighted. Our time together has given us a vision to move forward, renewed enthusiasm, and produced a step by step plan to achieve goals beyond our expectations. We worked out strategies to provide excellent value to members whilst being very viable. We highly recommend Shane and his team to any organisation looking to thrive and not just survive.’ Lisa Nicolle, Hardware Association of Qld.
‘Excellent strategic planning weekend. Having it facilitated meant we listened to other people’s views with an open mind. We gained a better understanding of our club and its potentials. Great new ideas. We were very happy with the whole process.’ Mal McDougoll, Brothers Sports Club, Bundaberg

Operational Planning
What is it?
The organisation’s operational plan clearly states the step by step actions needed to implement goals and strategies identified in the strategic plan.
An operational plan details the actions required to implement each strategy, assigning responsibilities, setting timeframes, identifying resources required and indicating what difference the specific actions will make.
Often a facilitated operational plan helps put realistic time lines on activities, ensuring that the plan is not doomed to fail from the start.
Global Training Institute can facilitate your Operational Planning process to maximise its chance of success.
